Create a monthly content calendar with Claude

Map a month of content across platforms with themes, post types and scheduling so you always know what to post and when.

Last checked 22 October 2026

What you'll make

A month-long content calendar covering all the platforms you post to — with daily post topics, platform-specific formats, captions and a scheduling plan. Instead of waking up and wondering what to post, you'll have the whole month mapped out.

What you need

  • A Claude account
  • Knowing which platforms you post to (Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube — pick 2–3, not all)
  • Your content pillars (2–3 broad topics your account covers)
  • 25 minutes

Steps

  1. Tell Claude about your platforms and pillars, and ask for the calendar:
I post to: [list your 2–3 platforms]. My content pillars are:
1. [Pillar 1 — e.g. practical tips]
2. [Pillar 2 — e.g. behind the scenes / story]
3. [Pillar 3 — e.g. audience Q&A]

Create a 4-week content calendar. For each day, tell me:
1. Which platform to post on (don't post on all platforms every day — rotate)
2. Which content pillar it falls under
3. Post format (reel, carousel, text post, image, video — matched to the platform)
4. Topic (specific — not "share a tip", but "3 mistakes new [niche] sellers make in their first month")
5. Caption or script outline (2–3 bullet points, not a full script)
6. Best time to post on that platform for [your audience timezone]

Spread the pillars so no single pillar dominates any week. Aim for roughly equal coverage across the 4 weeks.
  1. Ask Claude to identify batch-creation days:
Based on this calendar, which content can I batch-create in advance? Group the posts by type (all reels together, all carousels together, all text posts together) and tell me:
1. How many of each type there are this month
2. How long it takes to create each type (estimate)
3. A suggested batch schedule (e.g. "Sunday: film all 4 reels, Monday: design all 6 carousels")
  1. Ask Claude for a weekly review prompt:
Give me 4 questions to ask myself at the end of each week to review whether the content is working:
1. A question about engagement (which posts got the most saves/shares/comments?)
2. A question about audience growth (did this week bring new followers?)
3. A question about content quality (which post am I least proud of?)
4. A question about next week (what should I do more of or less of?)

Keep each question practical — not vague "how did it go?".
  1. Save the calendar in a spreadsheet or document. Schedule the posts using your platform's scheduling tools (Meta Business Suite for Instagram/Facebook, or a tool like Buffer). Adjust times based on when your audience is actually active.

Check your result

  • No day has you posting on more than 2 platforms (spreading too thin kills quality)
  • Each content pillar gets roughly equal coverage across the month
  • Every post topic is specific enough that you could sit down and create it without further brainstorming
  • The batch schedule groups similar content types together
  • You have a simple weekly review habit to catch what's working and what's not

If the calendar feels overwhelming, cut back to 2 platforms and 3 posts per week. A consistent 3 posts a week beats an ambitious 7 posts a week that you abandon by week 2. You can always scale up once the habit is solid.
