Build a product listing with Claude
Use Claude to write Etsy product titles, descriptions and tags in minutes.
Last checked 22 October 2026
What you'll make
A complete Etsy listing — title, description and 13 tags — written by Claude from a few details about your product. You'll have copy that follows Etsy's character limits and is built to show up in search.
What you need
- A Claude account (the free tier works for this)
- A product idea or a listing you want to improve
- 5 minutes to tell Claude what you're selling
Steps
- Open Claude and paste this prompt. Replace the bracketed parts with your product details:
You are an Etsy SEO and copywriting specialist. I sell [product type] for [target buyer]. The material is [material]. The style is [style]. Write:
1. One Etsy title, maximum 140 characters, with the most important keywords first.
2. One product description, 3–4 short paragraphs, starting with the main benefit. Include materials, dimensions and care instructions as placeholders I can fill in. Keep it scannable with line breaks.
3. 13 Etsy tags, each maximum 20 characters, mixing broad and specific terms. Put the most important ones first.
Do not use promotional language like "best" or "amazing." Write like a helpful expert, not a salesperson.
Read the output and edit anything that doesn't match your product. Claude doesn't know your exact materials or dimensions, so fill in the placeholders.
If the title feels stuffed with keywords, ask Claude to rewrite it:
Rewrite the title to read naturally for a human, while keeping the top 3 keywords. Maximum 140 characters.
- Copy the title, description and tags into your Etsy listing. Save as draft and preview how it looks in search.
Check your result
- The title is under 140 characters (Etsy will reject it otherwise)
- Each tag is under 20 characters
- The description starts with a benefit, not a feature list
- No placeholder text is left in the final listing
If the tags are too generic (like "gift" or "handmade"), ask Claude for more specific ones tied to your product category.
