Analyse clip performance with Claude

Paste your posting stats into Claude and learn which clips overperformed, what they share in common and what to make next.

Last checked 22 October 2026

What you'll make

A performance analysis of your recent clips — which ones overperformed, what they have in common, and a concrete plan for what to clip next based on the data. Instead of guessing what works, you'll have patterns to follow.

What you need

  • A Claude account
  • Posting stats from the last 10–20 clips (views, likes, comments, shares, watch time — whatever your platform shows)
  • 15 minutes

Steps

  1. Paste your stats into Claude as a simple table:
Here are the stats for my last 15 clips across TikTok and YouTube Shorts:

| Clip | Topic | Length | Platform | Views | Likes | Comments | Shares | Avg watch % |
|------|-------|--------|----------|-------|-------|----------|--------|-------------|
| 1 | [topic] | 28s | TikTok | 12000 | 800 | 45 | 120 | 62% |
| 2 | [topic] | 15s | Shorts | 45000 | 2100 | 80 | 300 | 78% |
[...add all rows...]

Analyse this data and tell me:
1. Which 3 clips overperformed relative to my average views
2. Which 3 clips underperformed
3. What the top performers have in common (topic, length, hook type, watch percentage)
4. What the underperformers have in common
5. Whether there's a pattern in clip length and watch percentage
  1. Ask Claude to identify your strongest hook patterns:
For the 3 top-performing clips, describe the opening 3 seconds. I'll tell you what happened on screen:

Clip [X]: [describe the first 3 seconds — what was shown, what text appeared, what was said]
Clip [Y]: [describe]
Clip [Z]: [describe]

Based on these, identify what hook pattern works best for my audience. Then suggest 3 new clip ideas that use the same hook pattern but cover different topics.
  1. Ask Claude for a content plan based on the data:
Based on the analysis above, give me a content plan for my next 10 clips:
1. What topics to cover (based on what overperformed)
2. What length to target (based on the watch percentage pattern)
3. What hook style to lead with
4. What to stop doing (based on what underperformed)

Format as a simple list I can follow this week.
  1. Save the plan. After posting the next 10 clips, come back and run the same analysis to see if the patterns held or shifted.

Check your result

  • You know which 3 clips overperformed and can explain why (not just "they got more views")
  • You've identified at least one pattern: topic, length, hook style, or watch percentage
  • You have 3 new clip ideas that follow the winning pattern
  • You know what to stop doing based on the underperformers

If the data doesn't show clear patterns, you may need more clips to analyse (20+ is better than 10) or your clips may be too varied in style to compare. Try grouping them by type (talking head, b-roll, tutorial) and analysing each group separately.
